30 Things I'm Thankful For!

Happy November, everyone! Can you believe that the Holiday's are just around the corner?  I have already started playing Christmas music and have absolutely no regrets.  I AM that person.  This month is going to be super busy for me so I wanted to get this out early.  I thought it would be fun to share with you all 30 things that I am thankful for.

I truly believe that gratitude is the path to joy and contentment and it's something that I really want to focus more on in my own life so what better way to start?

I am Thankful for...

1. My husband's incredible ability to give me grace.  He leads me and inspires me daily to grow more intimate with Christ.

2. The smell of cinnamon.

3.  Our apartment.  It may not have the perfect lighting or have my dream kitchen but it's always warm and it's ours.

4. Cotton candy skies.

5. Cold milk and cereal.  I could eat cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

6. My two daughters who are both beyond my wildest dreams in their own unique ways.

7. The way my bedroom fills with a soft blue hue of morning light each day.  When the day is just beginning but all is still quiet.  It puts me into such a peaceful state and I am so thankful that Jesus desires to give me such peace!

8. Beautiful books, both inside and out.

9. The sound the front door made at my grandparents old house when it opened and closed.  I can still hear it vividly in my head and I am flooded with all of the sweet memories made there.

10. Christmas music!

11. Wild flowers.

12. Cherry pie. Not just because it's my absolute favorite but also because it reminds me of my dad.

13. I am so thankful to have been raised by such a loving family.  We were in no shortage of family drama but they laid the foundation and I wouldn't be who I am today without them.

14. The Pacific North West being our home.  Drive ten miles in absolutely any direction and your in the great outdoors.

15. The BBC, where literally all of my favorite shows come from!

16. The friendships that I have with my two brothers.  I love them both dearly.  And beyond that I am so thankful for the friendships that they have formed with my husband!

17. All of the opportunities that I have been given to travel.  God's creation is so vast and so stunning and I feel grateful to have even experienced a slice of it through my travels.

18. Photographs.

19. Musical theatre and for all who are willing and able to perform in it.  There is little I love more than going out to see a Broadway and I am beyond thankful that it exists.

20. Bread.  Seriously, I think we could all be a little more grateful that bread is a thing.

21. Planes, because when you really think about it, it is such a blessing.  We can now travel anywhere in the world in just hours when once it would have taken days, weeks, or even months.

22. Speaking of transportation, I am so thankful for our mini van! It makes life with two kids so much easier, especially when we have to load it up for road trips.  It holds so. much. stuff.

23. Our church family.  We have so many people standing along side us who love us, support us, and hold us accountable.

24. Football, I love lounging around all Saturday watching football.

25. Being raised in such an amazing place.  When I really stop to think about how beautiful my home town is I can't believe that it's where I got spend the first half of my life.

26. I am so thankful for all of the times that Ezrah climbs into our bed at three o'clock in the morning. Which, let's be honest happens most nights.  It won't last forever so I am savoring all of these moments with our babies.

27. The Army and all that it taught me and for affording my the opportunity to earn a degree with zero student loans.

28. My mother's cooking.  She seriously makes the best meals and it's a blessing whenever she gets to cook for me.

29. The changing of the seasons.  Each one brings something new and exciting.

30. Christmastime, when they bring out all of the peppermint things!


Of course there are endless things in life to be thankful for but these are just some of the few that really stick out in my life.  I think that it's so important to remember is that life and all of its little joys is a gift.  When we start viewing life through grateful lenses we ultimately have more freedom.  There's less room for offense or discontentment both of which steal our joy.  I am not saying that we can't work for or strive for more.  It's wonderful to have dreams and goals and to take the steps needed to achieve them but if are not willing to be grateful for the things we have now then we will never be grateful for the things we have in future.  Every phase, every step of life, count it all as joy.

"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.  I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  Christ gives me the strength to face anything."
